Soul Purpose Counseling

Healing Souls. Finding Purpose

You are in the right place.

I applaud you for taking the first step in your journey towards a healthier and happier you. Life can be demanding and challenging, and sometimes we do not know where to turn when things don't fall in place the way they should. Everyone has obstacles to overcome, and sometimes you need someone to help you through the tough times. Soul Purpose Counseling was created to assist adolescents and young adults confront their past, embrace the present, and make plans for a successful future.

The purpose of therapy is to equip you with practical skills to identify and modify self-defeating patterns of thought and behaviors and replace them with positive ones. If we heal our minds, we can heal our bodies. You hold the key to your success. No one knows you better than you, so we will work as a team to develop a plan to meet your individual needs. Together, we will set clear and measurable goals, and you will be able to explore thoughts, feelings and concerns without judgment.

" Tough times don't always last, tough people do."  You will WIN!

Client Focus

It is important for teens and adolescents to be able to handle the changes that are going on with them and around them. It is normal to experience some growing pains during the multiple stages of development. Equipping you with coping skills to deal with changes and challenges is our focus.

There is no such thing as a shortage of challenges on life's journey. You have crossed the threshold into a different stage of life. You may be faced with many challenges. More responsibilities sometimes lead to more stress. Past experiences may keep you from moving forward. Together, we will find ways to make the transition smoother.

Young Adults

Sometimes there is a need for family intervention to help clients on the path to success. When needed, family counseling may be used to assist with reaching therapy goals.

What is your "soul purpose?"

Is your teen struggling with the challenges of everyday life? Has academic pressure, stress, relationship challenges, or trauma led to anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, low-self esteem/self confidence, or negative patterns of behavior? As a parent, do you feel frustrated and defeated because you can’t find answers? You feel like you have tried everything, yet nothing seems to be working. All you desire is for your child to feel better and to be successful.

As a young adult, is "adulting" harder that you may have thought? Has the increased responsibility to become independent caused you to lose your way? You are faced with many challenges that have darkened your days and you want to live and not just exist.

Whether it is dealing with the pain of your past or stressful situations in the present, it IS possible to find joy, peace, and happiness. I believe in the message of Charles Swindoll that says, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." We cannot control the things that happen to us, but we can control how we respond to them. Replacing negative thoughts and feelings with more positive ones is the first step in healing your soul and finding your purpose.

Meet Tammy

Licensed Professional Counselor

My desire as a counselor is to help individuals to become the best version of themselves. Life can be challenging, and sometimes filled with mixed emotions and memories and of past hurt and pain. It is my sincere desire for my clients to confront their situations, eliminate self-defeating thoughts and behaviors, and to move forward in living their best life. Communicating thoughts and feelings is instrumental in taking control. Changing mindsets is the key to being successful in conquering the challenges that we encounter on our journey through life. It is a blessing for me to be able to assist you in becoming a better version of yourself. You are NOT alone!

More about Tammy

My journey began as a middle grades educator in 2001. I have 20+ years of experience as an educator in the areas of teaching and school counseling. I have also worked with individuals in restorative programs designed to assist them in modifying behaviors that prevent them from being successful. I have a special interest in exploring the root causes of behaviors that may contribute to negative thought patterns and behaviors. This interest and desire led me to obtain my License as a Professional Counselor so that I could expand my knowledge and better assist the growing population of adolescents and young adults who are in need of therapy to help them to heal and grow.

I have received training in a variety of counseling techniques, and the techniques will be chosen based on the individual needs of the client. My Christian faith is a very important part of my life, and I can also provide a faith-based approach to counseling if desired.
